Looking for steps for a simple grilled sirloin steak dinner? Here are the basic steps I followed for a grilled sirloin steak dinner where the steak is tender with a little char on the outside. This makes an awesome and simple dinner. I think the best steaks are grilled over a wooden flame, however, I know a restaurants like Ruth’s Chris serve broiled sirloin steaks. When your in a hurry, a simple grill is good to go!
Hope you enjoy.
I purchased sirloins at the local Wegmens grocery store. When browsing the steak section, look for the sirloins with the nice red color. Depending where and how fresh the sirloins are can greatly effect the tenderness of the steak. Sirloins are the cheaper cuts of steak to grill, but can still be up to par with the rest of the cuts if bought fresh.
For the main course, all you really need are the sirloins, extra virgin olive oil, kosher salt(must have), and black pepper.
For the sides, I purchased some asparagus and fresh sour dough bread.
Steak preparation
Asparagus preparation
1. Start your grill and allow it to reach a high temperature. ~500 is a pretty good temperature. Higher the better. Heating the grill usually takes maybe around 10-15 minutes.
tip Be sure your grill is clean in the inside or else the left over residue/fat can cause a ‘dirty’ fire.
2. Put the sirloin steaks on the grill and close the grill door. Let the steaks cook for around 3 minutes.
3. After 3 minutes, flip the steaks to another hot area on the grill. This is so the other side of the steaks get to cook on the same hot surface as it was put on.
4. Finish!
Asparagus is a tasty veggie to supplement the steak and is very easy to grill. Turn the grill to medium heat around 350. Toss the asparagus onto the grill surface and continually turn them. After around 10-15 minutes, they should be done. When finished, sprinkle a little kosher salt and pepper. Check out the pics to see the color.
After the steaks had a few minutes to rest, its time to enjoy it! Resting the steak is important because it allows the internal juices to redistribute throughout the meat. In addition to, a little butter can be added to the hot steak to create additional moisture. Heat the sour dough bread for a little bit, and your diner is set. Complement diner with a nice red wine and your good to go! Hope you enjoyed this tutorial, please drop a comment for suggestions or a hello.
